The hardware in the WDTV Live is incapable of supporting XBMC, slow mips chip with no GPU (XBMC needs OpenGL GPU). Sigma Designs (the chip vendor which supplied hardware to WDTV) actually commissioned a port of XBMC to their later generation GPU sporting chips but it has not seen the light of day in any commercial products.

The WDTV cannot run Plex or XBMC, only the player built into it. It does however play almost every format and has a decent GUI. I will write a post about how to use nice visuals like backdrops, fanart, etc if there is an interest.
